BILINGUAL SIGNAGE
SCHEME 2005
The Department of Community, Rural & Gaeltacht
Affairs has announced a Bilingual Townland Signage Scheme for
CLÁR areas. It is proposed that the Kerry County Development Board
will act as co-ordinator for this scheme.
Kerry County Development Board is now
inviting applications from Community Groups who are interested.
Details of the scheme are as follows:-

Signs
must be done in stone
·
Equal
prominence at least to Irish as compared to English on any sign
·
Irish
only in Gaeltachtaí
·
Name to
be approved by the Place Names Branch of the Department of
Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs
·
3 way
equal funding split: CLÁR, Foras Na Gaeilge and Local Community –
subject to a maximum of €6,000 per Parish/Area
·
Community Groups to make arrangements for work to be done and
Community Groups to pay for the work in the first instance
