Welcome to the third edition of our newsletter, fulfilling our promise
to keep you informed of Board activities. The primary aim of the
Board is to develop a County Strategy for Economic, Social and Cultural
Development. This strategy will represent a framework for enhanced
local level co-ordination in the delivery of services in our county.
It is a shared vision of where we want County Kerry to be in the
future.
The third
meeting of the Kerry County Development Board was held in the
Brandon Hotel, Tralee, on 9 June, 2000. It was chaired by Councillor
Ted Fitzgerald. 29 people attended the meeting. This was the last
meeting of the current Chairman. The meeting was facilitated by
Ms. Siobhán Griffin, Kerry County Council, Mr. Kieran Hickey,
NUI Galway, and Mr. Joe MacGrath, Director of Service, Community
& Enterprise. The meeting consisted of both plenary sessions
and Working Groups. Rapporteurs for the Working Groups were Mr.

County Community and Voluntary Forum
Remember,
the Kerry County Community and Voluntary Forum is a countywide
collection of 18 persons representing Community and Voluntary
groups in County Kerry with representatives nominated to Kerry
County Council's Strategic Policy Committees, the Kerry County
Development Board and Working Groups of the Kerry County Development
Board.
At its last
meeting on 29 June, 2000, the Forum co-opted a further two members
in order to strengthen the Forum's collective representation of
countywide issues.
The Community
and Voluntary Forum would, therefore, like to welcome Mr. George
Dineen, CPI Parents Association, and Ms. Bec Fahy, Kerry Traveller
Development Project, to the Forum.
